My programs are for people who are interested in learning, growing, changing, developing, evolving, becoming wiser and connected to like-minded people.
I have many programs to choose from.
TYPES OF PROGRAMS
These are some insights I learned providing Adult Education Programs on Zoom.
FOR THE LONELY & SHY
- Many people are so confused and angry because of politics and social media.
- 60% of folks in the US report being lonely, yet 50% of all adults also report they are too shy to make new friends.
- Social distancing, and super polarized politics, don’t help trying to be friendly, particularly if you are shy.
- These programs can help people connect and enjoy each other.
FOR YOUNG ADULTS
- Many young adults don’t go to adult library education programs.
- They may be tired from working.
- Many may be using the Internet for personal online research and learning.
- Some may be taking training courses for work.
- Growing up with video games and TV, they may spend many hours with video games and TV series. It is easy, familiar and comfortable for them.
- Some may be tired of education, school, and anything that seems like learning.
- They may not yet understand the value of lifelong learning. Probing the unknown can be a fun adventure.
- Some may now have addictions or compulsions.
- I have a program "Understanding What Makes Addiction Recovery Really Work" and a Recovery Toolbox here.
FOR ADULTS
- Many adults use Zoom all day long for work.
- They may have a little Zoom fatigue.
- These program are enjoyable and will improve there lives, for sure.
FOR SENIORS
- Many older people are not yet comfortable with technology and Zoom.
- They may need some help with the technology.
TIMING
- When to schedule the time of a program?
- Older, non-working people could attend day or evening.
- Working people could only attend in the evening.
- So, 7 pm is a good time to have a program if you want to include working people.
- If it is only for non-working adults and seniors, then the afternoon is also good.
AN OPEN, FUN ATTITUDE
- It is great to have and attitude that enjoys collaboration and conviviality.
- Unbiased and respectful participation in conversation is very helpful.
- Be open to what is new, what is helpful.
- It may take a little time for you to become comfortable interacting in groups on Zoom
- Appreciate intellectual discussion. We use it or lose it.
- You can make the meeting a fun adventure by staying open to wonder, curiosity, creative conversation and probing the unknown.
- Having a healthy sense of humor is wonderful gift.
- As James Taylor sang, "The secret of life is opening up your heart."
- When we open our minds and hearts, we have a very fulfilling life.
